DASH Still Stands As One Of Top 5 Coins

DASH has been one of the few cryptocurrencies lately to have a positive and even lucrative year. They have brought their operations to Venezuela during a time of economic crisis, set a record as an endorsed cryptocurrency for the country, and has maintained its seat as one of the top five cryptocurrencies. However, the new attention they have gotten lately is not exactly positive."DASH Still Stands As One Of Top 5 Coins"

The biggest squabble happened just a few weeks ago, following the high burn rate that CEO Ryan Taylor is responsible for. Many members of the Dash community had decided to take on the CEO, signing a proposition that would take away his position and allow the platform to hire someone new. The list of reasons for the request for demotion is lengthy and is already posted on the Dash website. Basically, the main reason appears to be how inept Taylor has been in supporting the community as it grows and expands.

Since Taylor has been with Dash since the beginning, it seems that he is not going down without a fight. The proposal still only includes about 15% of the community in support of it, which makes the $1,000 fee that the proposal writer had to pay almost not worth it. Still, there are several reasons cited as a reason for the proposed demotion:
  1. Loss of market confidence based on the broken promises and missed deadlines that Taylor continues to have.
  2. Irresponsible growth, considering the high monthly expenses that the Taylor has been unable to fulfill or maintain
  3. No community support, based on the lack of a safety net, even after receiving millions in funding
  4. Underwhelming technology advancements, since the features that have been promised, have yet to be delivered on
  5. Poor hiring decisions, which includes the assignment of Fernando Gutierrez as CMO, despite no experience in any job of this capacity
  6. Lack of leadership, since the company has been at a stalemate since the loss of Evan Duffield

Some members have come to Taylor’s defense, noting the holes in the writer’s argument. They believe almost exactly the opposite of what the proposal negatively claims. Instead, Taylor stands strong in his decisions. Specifically, regarding treasury management, he said, “the treasury at current prices has absolutely no effect on the timeline for Evolution or any other projects being managed by Dash Core Group. Because we never pursued an unsustainable hiring spree during the peak, we have been able to retain our entire workforce as the budget has contracted.

We remain mindful of our expenses on behalf of the network and have taken some proactive steps to control costs. We have contingency plans that would allow us to continue operating with a full staff at much lower prices before any reductions would be forced by the budget. We’ve also committed to restricting our entire proposals to under 60% of the total budget to ensure the community maintains access to funding as well.”

As far as hiring Gutierrez, he said, “Fernando possesses extensive marketing experience. He was a marketing manager at Telefonica where he was repeatedly promoted during his seven years with the company and was previously in sales and channel marketing for HP. Fernando has a long history with Dash, is deeply knowledgeable about our strategy and operations, and is extremely committed. We couldn’t ask for a better CMO.”

Finally, he concluded his comments with the belief that the community has not gone against Dash but is entirely for it. He said, “The community has banded together to support the team we have built over the past 18 months. The vote and public discussion are overwhelmingly in support of the team and what we’ve accomplished. The proposal system is designed to enable anyone to come forward with a proposal and I support that ability to maintain a healthy dialogue and hold the team accountable. We do listen to the criticisms and take them to heart in many ways, including changing our communication, areas of focus, and partnerships to continue serving the network.”

Now, it is up to the community to ignore the rantings of a master nodes writer or to sign the proposal.
